Malama Sanctuary is a non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating a compassionate and environmentally conscious society in Hawaii.
Malama Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to create a compassionate and environmentally conscious society that honors the cultural heritage of communities in Hawaii. We recognize the interconnectedness of our non-human animals, the environment, and the well-being of our communities. We strive to empower individuals and communities to make ethical and sustainable choices. It is only through sustainable practices that we ensure the longevity of these vital resources. Through research, education, and community outreach, we strive to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a healthy ecosystem that supports the growth and survival of these species.
We provide educational resources, workshops, and community events highlighting the intersection of community values with ethical and sustainable food choices. Through comprehensive hands-on training programs, we empower underserved communities to become leaders in sustainable agriculture.
We address the disproportionate impacts of industrial animal agriculture on marginalized communities. We recognize Hawaii was once home to the largest cattle ranch in the United States. Recently, a factory farm was closed due to Federal Clean Water Act violations. We were able to offer some of the cows a safe and humane forever home.
At Mālama Sanctuary, we are dedicated to sustainable agriculture, and advocating for a more compassionate and equitable world.
